escape to Dark Star
I bet 'Islam Sucks' is really LMFAO right now after this Tuesday's shit show. The world is a lot darker place now. Great show though

"Sherman, set the Wayback machine to ..."
"...November 11th, 1973"
I was three years old when the Dead rocked Winterland out on this Fall night and 15 years away from my first show which was at Rosemont. I am so grateful to be able to access these shows and enjoy them 43 years after the Dead rocked them out! Thank you to everyone who ever took the time to record these great shows! And thank you to folks like Charlie for cleaning them up! Someday I may be invited to tour some of the better shows with Peabody and Sherman but until that happens I feel lucky to catch these shows here!

spare me is right
5/8 can't hold a candle to 1973.
Gorgeous first set and the creepiest DS 11/11.

This is one of those all-time shows that is really impossible to have missed in the old cassette-trading days...now I actually prefer these old boards rather than the set release for this particular date - there is something preferable about '73 presented with just a touch of softness, of "distance", if you will...the boxed set is just too....loud.
Everything here is just exactly perfect. Too many highlights - it's one after the other rolling-thunder. One of the all-time greats.

...was a great time indeed and this is one that proves it. simply one of the GD's best shows ever, while there are a few weak cuts, pretty much everything here shines. Bertha>greatest, one of the best china>riders ever, a tearjerker of a to lay me down, and a fiery LIG highlight the 1st set.
the 2nd set pretty much speaks for itself. i won't argue with the folks who call this the best dark star ever. the first time i heard that wicked jam coming out of phil's solo i literally said 'whoa' and almost fell outta my seat. the eyes is equally fantastic and i must also mention that the UJB is as great as they come; listen to Garcia's wonderfully melodic phrasing after the "goddamn well i declare" verses...utter bliss.
absolutely undoubtedly essential and ubiquitous.
